What is dressed snow?
Dressed snow is artificial snow applied by hand to surfaces, structures and props to create a realistic settled snow effect — the kind you’d see on Christmas trees, windowsills, rooftops, and landscapes in a professional winter installation.
Unlike falling snow, dressed snow stays where it’s placed. It can be applied to almost any surface — indoor or outdoor, and is available in over 100 different formulations depending on the effect, texture and environment required.
FX Live’s team of snow specialists handles everything from the initial design consultation through to on-site application and removal, so every installation looks exactly as planned and is cleared away without a trace.

Common questions
There are many different artificial snow effects we can achieve — from delicate frost on window ledges to deep, immersive snow landscapes. We’re always happy to talk through your brief and help you find the right approach.
Yes, we provide both indoor and outdoor artificial snow installations. Outdoor installations use weather-resistant materials specifically formulated to withstand the British climate while maintaining a realistic appearance.
This depends on the material, the environment, and the level of interaction. We’ll advise on longevity as part of your consultation — indoor installations generally last longer, and the British weather plays its part outdoors.
We recommend using our trained team for the best results, but if budget is a consideration we can discuss options and provide guidance for a DIY approach, just get in touch.

Every project is different so we don’t have fixed packages. We’ll work with you to create the best installation possible within your budget. The best way to get a sense of cost is to get in touch and tell us about your project.
