About FX Live

The people behind
the magic.

We’re a small, close-knit team who genuinely love what we do. Winter effects isn’t just our job, it’s our speciality, our obsession, and honestly, a lot of fun.

OUR STORY

Thirty years of expertise.
All in one place.

FX Live was built on decades of experience in the snow and winter effects industry. Our team has spent years at the heart of some of the UK’s most spectacular winter installations – from Snow Business and beyond, and brought all of that knowledge together under one roof.

We work with retailers, event organisers, visitor attractions, and holiday destinations to create winter moments that genuinely surprise and delight. Whether it’s a subtle snow dress for a shop window or a full-scale falling snow spectacle for a live event, we bring the same care, creativity, and hands-on expertise to every project.

Glice Synthetic Ice Rinks

We’re also the UK’s exclusive Glice distributor, bringing the world’s leading synthetic ice rink technology to venues, attractions, and events across the country. No refrigeration, no water, no compromise on the skating experience.

How we work

What makes us different.

01

We pick up the phone

We’re a real team, not a call centre. When you get in touch, you’ll speak to someone who actually knows their stuff and genuinely wants to help make your project work.

02

Bespoke, every time

No two projects are the same, so we never treat them that way. Every brief gets thought through properly, the right product, the right quantity, the right approach for your specific venue and audience.

03

We stay until it's right

Our team doesn’t drop off the equipment and disappear. We’re there on the day, hands-on, making sure everything looks and works exactly as planned and we tidy up so well you’d barely know we’d been.

The team

The people who
make it happen.

We’re a tight-knit group who’ve mostly known each other for years — many of us worked together long before FX Live existed. Hover over a photo to find out a bit more about each of us.

Joe was the head of live events at Snow Business for 10 years. He previously worked in the music industry in the live gig sector, so he knows his way around an event.

Managing Director

Joe Williams

Andrew has over 15 years experience in snow and winter effects. He used to look after the distributor network at Snow Business and it’s safe to say he LOVES a spreadsheet. He also loves techno and looks a bit like Louis Theroux.

Operations Director

Andrew Carruthers

James was originally the Financial Director at Snow Business. He was previously the head of finance at one of the largest John Deere dealer groups for nearly 10 years. James loves a flamboyant outfit and has quite the collection of jackets.

Financial Director

James Partridge

Rachel started as a Junior in live events at Snow Business and quickly became the Account Manager working alongside Joe. She has 6 years experience and is known for a ‘Rach-ism’. A Rach-ism is either a made up adjective or a random thought.

Senior Account Manager

Rachel Chalmers

PA aka Peggyanne, but we’re not allowed to call her that. Has been co-ordinating projects for 7 years. She also worked at Snow Business before joining the FX-Live team.

Project Coordination Manager

PA Halling

Kieran worked in the logistics and shipping department at Snow Business, so if something needs sorting he’s your man. He’s also part of our sales team, so he’s got his fingers in all the pies! Can’t resist wearing shorts at any opportunity, even on the coldest of days!

Sales Account Manager

Keiran Coombes

On the ground

The ones who
make it real.

Behind every installation is a team of highly trained snow technicians and project managers who handle everything on-site. They set up, they stay on hand, and when it’s all over they clear everything away so meticulously that you’d barely know they’d been there.
